21st Outstanding Paper Award of the Physical Society of Japan

Associate Professor Kazuyuki Matsuhira received 21st Outstanding Paper Award of the Physical Society of Japan on March 20, 2016. In recognition of important achievements towards the progress of physics, this award is given to the outstanding papers selected among original research articles published in the Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, and Progress of Theoretical and Experimental Physics for the past five years. This paper reveals that pyrochlore oxides Ln2Ir2O7 (Ln : lanthanide), which are strongly correlated 5d electrons systems with strong spin-orbit coupling, indicate temperature induced metal-insulator transitions and clarify the electronic phase diagram.
